Organizing the refrigerator and freezer is something that I have to do on a weekly basis because we buy food weekly! I’m guessing it is something that you have to do weekly too! Let’s start with the refrigerator!
Refrigerator Organization
This photo was taken after I completed today’s challenge myself. After you complete this challenge, your refrigerator should look very similar!
To keep our refrigerator organized, we use a few different bins but mostly utilize the shelves and drawers. We use bins to store and organize jello, pudding, and applesauce for our little guy. We always have those snacks on hand which is why I use the bins to keep them organized. Bins are perfect for snacks that tend to get lost in drawers or get pushed to the back of the fridge never to be found.
I also use a bin to keep our individually wrapped cheese slices together and organized in the cool drawer. Everything else has its own designated space on a shelf or in a drawer.
In the doors, I try to keep like items together. One shelf has jelly, one has dressings, one has condiments, etc. The foods that I use the least go on the bottom shelves in the door. Things like soy sauce or worcestershire sauce.
Okay, now it’s your turn!
Steps For You To Take:
Follow these steps to organize your refrigerator!
Declutter
- Clear off enough counter space to work with.
- Then remove everything from your refrigerator.
- Throw away old, expired food or food you won’t eat.
Clean
- Grab a bowl of hot water and a squirt of dish soap and a cleaning cloth.
- Wet the cleaning cloth and wipe all the dirt and grime off your shelves.
- You can also pull out the shelves and wash them in your sink.
- Pull out the drawers and clean up dirt or spills behind them.
Organize
- It’s time to start putting your food back in the refrigerator.
- Group like items together. Keep your jellies together, dressings together, meats together, etc!
- Use bins to organize food when necessary. You can also use turntables and lazy susans to organize dressings or bottles that won’t fit in your doors!
