Command centers are perfect to keep you and your whole family organized. Within a family, you all have different lives and busy schedules. A command center is a perfect way to bring all your daily family information together and organized.
For our command center, we keep the information on it that is most helpful for my husband and I. We created a space for our monthly schedule and dates, our meal plan each week, quick to do lists, and added a magazine rack to keep paperwork that needs our immediate attention handy.
Having this command center has made our lives so much easier in so many ways! First off, I tend to plan out our grocery list and weekly meals and then forget what we are having part way through the week. Having this handy chalkboard to write out meal plan out on makes it so easy for my husband and I to know what we are having for dinner and for one of us to get started on it when we get home.
The to do list is also great for those tasks that we both need to remember!
For my command center I used:
- Framed Cork Board From Hobby Lobby
- Magazine Holder From Hobby Lobby
- Locker Pen Holder
- Chalkboards
- Printable Legal Size Calendar
I kept our command center simple with only the necessities we need each day. However the more complex your family is, the more things you can add. You could easily include your children’s sports schedules, school schedules, your work schedule, etc! The possibilities are endless.
Steps For You To Take
If you decide to use a command center or revamp and declutter your command center, follow these steps!
Declutter
- If you are already using a command center, it definitely needs to be decluttered every once in a while.
- Go through your paperwork and file away anything that has already been taken care of. You should also throw away any paper that you no longer need.
- Erase tasks that have already been completed or update your meal plan for this week.
Organize
- If you are just now creating a command center, determine what information needs to be displayed and easily accessible for your whole family.
- I recommend having a calendar, meal planner, to do list, place to corral paperwork, and a place to hold items like pens, push pins, markers, etc.
