Your Mother or Grandmother have probably told you about the power of using baking soda to clean your home. But with all the cleaning products out there we tend to forget about using baking soda to clean. Clean The Kitchen
You can clean your entire kitchen with baking soda and it is a really good idea to do so! Cleaning your kitchen with baking soda means you never have to worry if any harmful chemicals got on your food and will hurt your family! To clean your kitchen with baking soda, simply sprinkle baking soda on everything!
Start with your countertops. Sprinkle baking soda on the countertops and then spray with vinegar. Let the mixture sit until it stops foaming and then wipe it away with a warm cleaning cloth. You can use the same method on your stove top, in the fridge, and the freezer!
To clean the sink with baking soda, sprinkle the base of your sink with baking soda and then spray it with vinegar. Taking a hot, wet sponge, rub the mixture into the base of your sink and the walls of the sink. Once you have coated the entire sink with the baking soda and vinegar mixture, wash away the mixture with hot water. Your sink will sparkle like new and smell fresh and clean!
Remove Baked on Foods
Removing baked on grease and stains is simple when you use baking soda. Start by coating your pan in baking soda. Then spray vinegar all over the baking soda. Let the mixture sit for at least an hour (depending on how bad the stains are, sometimes I let it sit overnight.) Then wash your pan as usual with hot water and Dawn Dish Soap! Simple and easy!
Clean Your Bathroom
You can clean your entire bathroom with baking soda! Start by sprinkling baking soda in the toilet. The pour vinegar over the baking soda in the toilet and let the mixture do the work!
Next move on to the sink and counter top. Sprinkle baking soda on the countertop and in the sink. Using a spray bottle of vinegar, spray the baking soda. Once the baking soda stops foaming, wipe it away with a wet cleaning cloth. You can use this same method on your shower, however, I highly recommend using this recipe!
Once your countertop, sink, and shower are clean, come back to the toilet! Using a toilet wand, scrub your toilet and then flush!
Carpet Cleaner
Baking soda is wonderful to deordorize your carpets as well as clean them. To deodorize your carpet sprinkle baking soda all over your carpet. Wait 15 minutes and then vacuum it up. This method will work wonders to deodorize your carpet! I prefer to use this scented baking soda, but you can also make your own scented baking soda by adding a few drops of essential oils before you sprinkle it on your carpet! This will make your carpet smell amazing and deodorize it!
To remove stains from your carpet, create a paste with baking soda and Dawn Dish Soap. Rub the paste into the stain. Once dry, vacuum the paste and your stain will be gone!
Clean Your Floors
Using baking soda is a great and cheap way to clean your tile or linoleum.
To clean your grout lines, sprinkle baking soda on the grout in small sections. Then spray the baking soda with vinegar. Using a scrub brush, scrub the baking soda and vinegar mixture into the grout lines. Let the mixture sit on the first section while you move on to the next. Wash the mixture away with hot water and a cleaning cloth.
To clean your tile or lanoleum floor, sprinkle baking soda over all the floor. Then mix hot water and dish soap in a mop bucket. Mop your floors clean with the dish soap and water!
Clean Your Washer
To clean your washer, first, sprinkle baking soda all over the washer drum. Then pour vinegar into the washer until all of the baking soda has been coated and is foaming. Next, start your washer and let it run with hot water. Stop the washer once the drum is full of hot water.
To clean the rim of your washer or anywhere there is dirt and grime, dip a cleaning cloth into the hot water and scrub away the dirt and grime. You can also use an old tooth brush to remove the dirt in hard to reach areas.
Once you have removed all the dirt and grime, leave your cleaning cloth and toothbrush in the washer and let it finish running!
Freshen Towels
Have you noticed that your towels no longer smell fresh and clean after you wash them, but instead have a musty smell? You can easily freshen your towels with baking soda and vinegar!
Add 1/2 cup of Baking Soda to your washer, instead of detergent. Then pour vinegar on to the baking soda until it is all moistened and foaming. Then wash your towels on a regular cycle with hot water.
Clean Your Mattress
Cleaning your mattress is something that you should do frequently, and it’s actually easier than you think! To clean your mattress, sprinkle the whole mattress with baking soda. Then using a dry scrub brush, scrub the baking soda into your mattress. Then vacuum away the baking soda. That’s all it takes to clean and deodorize your mattress! How easy, right?!
Clean Your Furniture
Cleaning your furniture is just as easy as cleaning your mattress! Simply sprinkle baking soda all over your couches and chairs. I like to use this scented baking soda to make my furniture smell fresh and new. Once you have sprinkled the baking soda, scrub it into the furniture with a dry scrub brush. Then vacuum clean! Easy Peasy!
Unclog Drains
Have a clogged drain? Don’t worry about heading out for a bottle of draino when you can use this quick and easy method to unclog your drain! First pour hot, boiling water down the drain. Then add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the drain. Then pour 1 cup of hot water and 1 cup of vinegar down the drain. Once the bubbles disappear, run hot water down the drain for a few minutes! This should remove a clogged drain caused by gunk and grime!
Clean Your Dishwasher
Even though your dishwasher does most of the cleaning for you, it also needs to be clean itself from time to time! To clean your dishwasher, sprinkle baking soda throughout the bottom of the dishwasher. Then fill a large, glass measuring cup with 2 cups of vinegar and place it on the top rack. Run a complete dishwasher cycle with the hottest water setting. That’s it! Easy right?
Once the dishwasher cycle is complete, if you have any dirty spots left, wipe away with a wet, hot cleaning cloth.
